How to call Nigeria from abroad
Landlines changed in 2023, when the regulator put 20 in front of every old area code. Lagos went from 1 to 201 and Abuja from 9 to 209, so old numbers written the short way need the extra 20.
Mobile numbers: Mobiles start with 070, 080, 081, 090 or 091 and have 11 digits locally: 080x xxx xxxx, or +234 80x xxx xxxx from abroad. An example in international format: +234 80x xxx xxxx.
Nigeria area codes for major cities
Landline numbers start with a city code. From abroad, it comes right after +234, without the 0 used inside the country.
