What is a travel eSIM?

It is a SIM card without the card. The eSIM chip is already inside your phone. You buy a plan, scan a QR code, and the plan downloads onto that chip next to your normal SIM. When you land, your phone joins a local network in that country, so you pay a prepaid local price instead of your home carrier's roaming rates.

  • Prepaid

You pay once, up front. No contract, no credit check, and nothing renews by itself.

  • Data only

It gives you mobile data, not a new phone number. Your own number stays on your main SIM.

  • Starts when you connect

The days count from the first connection in the destination, not from the day you buy.

  • Keeps WhatsApp working

Apps run over the eSIM's data while your number stays where it is.

Travel eSIM questions, answered

What is a travel eSIM?+

A travel eSIM is a prepaid data plan for another country that you install by scanning a QR code. It sits next to your normal SIM, so when you land your phone joins a local network and you are online without roaming or a SIM shop.

Is a prepaid eSIM cheaper than roaming?+

Almost always. US carrier day passes like Verizon TravelPass and AT&T International Day Pass cost $12 a day in most countries. A prepaid travel eSIM usually costs a few dollars for the whole trip, and you see the price before you pay, so there is no bill later.

Should I get a country, regional or global eSIM?+

One country: a country plan, it is cheapest. Several countries in one region, like Europe: a regional plan. Several regions, or you do not know where you will land: a global plan. The global page has a calculator that prices all three for your trip.

Does a travel eSIM come with a phone number?+

No, our eSIMs are data only. WhatsApp and other apps work over data, and your normal number stays on your main SIM. If you want a number of your own abroad, add a virtual number.

Will my phone work with an eSIM?+

Most phones from the last few years support eSIM, including recent iPhones, Google Pixels and Samsung Galaxy phones, as long as the phone is carrier unlocked. Our phone checker tells you in a minute.

When does my plan start?+

When it first connects to a network in the country it covers, not when you buy it. So you can buy and install it days ahead and only start the clock when you land.

Can I keep my normal number and WhatsApp?+

Yes. The eSIM handles data while your physical SIM keeps your number. WhatsApp stays linked to your number and keeps working over the eSIM's data.

Can I use it as a hotspot?+

On most phones, yes. Shared data comes out of your plan like any other use. Because it can depend on the local network, test it soon after you land.

How do I pay, and do I need an account?+

You top up a balance with any of nine coins, then buy from it. There is no card, no ID and no email, just a private account number.

Where are you headed?

Pick your country, pay in crypto, and land connected. No card, no ID, no SIM counter.
