Does my phone support eSIM?

Updated September 7, 2026 · SimVala editorial
In short

Most flagship phones released since about 2018 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, and Google Pixel 3 and newer. The fastest way to be sure is to open your settings and look for an option to add a cellular or mobile plan.

The 20-second check

  1. 1

    Open settings

Go to your phone's cellular, mobile network, or SIM settings.

  2. 2

    Look for add a plan

Search for an option to add an eSIM or a cellular or mobile plan.

  3. 3

If it is there, you are set

Seeing that option means your phone supports eSIM and is ready to add one.

If your phone is not on the list

A few reasons a phone may not support eSIM: it is an older model, a budget model, or a regional variant sold in a market where eSIM is disabled. Some phones sold in mainland China and Hong Kong, for example, ship without eSIM.

Still not sure?

If the settings check does not show an eSIM option, your phone likely does not support one. In that case a physical travel SIM is the alternative.

Once you are ready

If your phone supports eSIM, you are two minutes from being online. Buy a plan, scan the QR, and connect. See the step-by-step install guides for iPhone, Android, Samsung, and Pixel.
