How WeChat checks your number
WeChat sign-up starts with your name, a password and a phone number. You may have to slide a puzzle piece into place, and then WeChat texts you a code.
The text is often not the last step. WeChat sometimes asks a friend who already uses WeChat to scan a QR code and vouch for you. It may also ask you to send a text from your phone. A one-time number cannot help with either of those.
So be honest with yourself before buying. The SMS part can work fine, but WeChat decides what comes next, and it is stricter than most apps.
