Orange uses one profile for both internet and MMS. Name it Orange sans Proxy.

SFR has separate internet, MMS and modem APNs, all named sl2sfr. Android phones can use one combined profile named SFR webphone.
On iPhone, SFR enters the MMSC as https://mms1 and the MMS proxy as 10.151.0.1:8080.

From iOS 16, turn on Utiliser les réglages de l'opérateur under Cellular Data Network, or enter fr.lebara.mobi in both the cellular and personal hotspot APN fields.
We found no separate MMS settings for Lebara. Picture messages usually work with the APN above, or your phone sets them itself.

4 of the 7 carriers here run their own network, and 3 rent space on one. Sosh runs on Orange, RED by SFR runs on SFR and Lebara runs on Bouygues Telecom. A carrier that rents a network often has its own APN, so copy the one on its card, not the host's.
Orange and Sosh use a username and password in the APN. For the others, leave both fields empty: a username where none is needed can stop data from working. Where an authentication type is given: Orange uses PAP, Bouygues Telecom uses PAP and Sosh uses PAP.
Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom, Free Mobile, Sosh and RED by SFR list separate settings for picture messages (MMS). If texts work but photos in messages do not, those are the values to check. SFR and RED by SFR also have a second APN for some plans or devices, shown on their cards.
The carriers here use the mobile country code 208, the first three digits of every network code in France. Android usually fills in the MCC and MNC from the SIM, so you rarely need to type them.
Visiting France with your own SIM? Keep your home APN: roaming data still goes through your home carrier. You only need these settings with a local SIM bought in France. Or skip the SIM shop with a France eSIM, which sets its own APN.
iPhone
No Mobile Data Network option? Your carrier locks it, and the iPhone sets the APN for you.
Android
Made a mess of it? Reset to default in the same menu brings the original settings back.
Data and roaming on
Mobile data must be on, and airplane mode off. On a local SIM, data roaming can stay off.
The APN, letter for letter
For Orange that is orange. One wrong dot or capital is enough to block data.
Username only if listed
Only Orange and Sosh need one here. Leave it blank for the rest.
Select it and restart
On Android, tap the entry so its dot is filled. Then restart the phone and open a website.
Calls and texts work, only data does not? That points to the APN, because calls and normal texts do not depend on it. If nothing works at all, the SIM itself may not be active yet: ask the shop or the carrier.
