How PayPal checks your number
When you open a PayPal account, it asks for a mobile number and texts you a code to confirm it.
After that, PayPal often uses the same number for security checks. Signing in from a new phone or browser can trigger a text code, and so can changing some settings.
PayPal is careful with money, so it may also ask for more later, like your name and address or a document, before it lets you send or withdraw larger amounts. A phone code does not replace any of that.
Why use a one-time number
A one-time number fits a narrow job with PayPal: getting through the first phone check when you open the account. Be clear about what comes next, though. PayPal leans on the phone for sign-in checks, so this works best if you switch to an authenticator app for sign-in right after.

Top up with crypto

Choose where the number should be from. The PayPal price shows before you pay.

Enter the number
Type the number into PayPal and ask for the code. It appears on your order page, usually within a minute or two.
The number stays active for about 15 minutes. If no code comes, the full amount goes back to your balance automatically.
Picking a country
PayPal accounts belong to a country, and the one you pick at sign-up matters. A number from that same country usually makes the most sense, since PayPal may question a number that does not match. If it is refused, try a fresh number rather than forcing the same one.
If the code does not arrive
PayPal will not accept the number
PayPal checks the number before it sends anything. If it says no, nothing is lost: with no code, the full price comes back to your balance.
The country does not match
PayPal's phone field follows the country you chose for the account. A number from somewhere else may be rejected, so pick a number from the account's country.
The code is late
Ask PayPal for a new code, but only once or twice. The number is live for about 15 minutes.
You closed the page by accident
Open your SimVala order page again. The code shows there as soon as it arrives, and in the Telegram bot too if you use it.

Keep a number for PayPal for a day, a week or a month. Every PayPal code it gets in that time shows up on your order page and in Telegram, so you can log in again later. You can extend it before it ends.
